The racecourse boasts a beautiful 1,741 meters turf track with a long stretch that leads to a straightaway finish. The racecourse also has a 1,632 meters dirt track.
Kanazawa Racecourse hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including the Kanazawa Cup, the Kanazawa Daishoten, and the Kanazawa Sprint Cup. The Kanazawa Cup is held annually and is the most anticipated event in the region. The race attracts a large number of horses and jockeys, all competing for the grand prize of 85 million yen.
According to statistics from the Japan Racing Association, the average prize money for races held at Kanazawa Racecourse in 2020 was 6.76 million yen, with the largest prize money being 21 million yen for the Kanazawa Cup. The average betting turnover for Kanazawa horse racing in 2020 was approximately 26.9 billion yen, with the highest betting turnover recorded for the Kanazawa Cup.
The jockeys who compete in Kanazawa horse racing are among the most skilled in Japan. Many of them have won awards and are recognized as some of the best in the country. In 2020, jockey Kota Fujioka won the most races at Kanazawa Racecourse, with a total of 57 wins.
